Use Agents

Acquire Call Rights and run Chat Agents or Direct APIs from Finch.

An Agent in Finch is a hosted service. You do not download its model or runtime. You acquire Call Rights for a published service version, choose one of its Offers, and run it in the Finch workspace.

1. Find an Agent

Open the Agent Market. You can:

  • search by keyword;
  • filter by category, access, and price;
  • sort by recency or price;
  • switch between grid and list views.

Open a card to review the Agent and its published Offers. The card's price is a discovery signal; the selected Offer and purchase panel are authoritative for the exact run.

2. Choose an Offer

An Agent can expose one or more Offers. Before buying or running, verify:

  • Mode — Conversation, Task, Generation, or Direct call.
  • Required Call Rights — how many rights one operation reserves.
  • Maximum duration — the published execution limit.
  • Follow-up rounds — how many additional answers the Offer permits.
  • Input requirements — free-form message, generated fields, or a JSON contract.

Do not assume that two Offers on the same Agent have the same price, limits, or output.

3. Acquire Call Rights

The run workspace shows the number of rights required and the rights currently available to your Personal Account.

If you need more rights:

  1. Sign in and connect the intended wallet.
  2. Set the quantity in the Call Rights purchase panel.
  3. Review the chain, payment token, estimated payment, service version, and wallet.
  4. Approve the token if required, then sign the reviewed Agent Service transaction.
  5. Wait for Finch to confirm the purchase and refresh the available-rights balance.

Call Rights are version-scoped. Buying rights for one service version does not grant access to another version from the same Provider.

4. Start a Chat Agent run

Chat Agent Offers use one of three modes.

Conversation

Use Conversation for interactive work:

  1. Select a Conversation Offer.
  2. Describe the outcome you want in the message box.
  3. Check the Call Rights and maximum duration shown below the composer.
  4. Start the conversation.
  5. If the Agent requests input, answer within the published follow-up allowance.

Finch keeps messages, progress, follow-ups, results, and Artifacts in one run. Each new conversation turn can reserve the number of rights declared by the Offer; do not assume all follow-ups are free.

Task

Use an Agent Task Offer for asynchronous work that may take longer than one HTTP response:

  1. Submit the required input.
  2. Finch records the accepted run and its deadline.
  3. Track progress in the workspace or Run History.
  4. Provide supplemental input only when the published contract permits it.
  5. Review the final Agent message and any validated Artifacts.

Generation

Generation is asynchronous and is commonly used for files or media. Finch allocates output capacity before dispatch. A completed generation can return one or more Finch-managed Artifacts within the Offer's media and size limits.

5. Make a Direct call

Direct API Offers send one typed request to the Provider's published HTTPS contract.

  1. Select the Direct call Offer.
  2. Complete the generated Published input fields. Required fields are marked.
  3. Use Advanced JSON input only when you need to supply the full schema-compliant object.
  4. Resolve every local validation message.
  5. Confirm the number of Call Rights and maximum duration.
  6. Run the call once.

Direct calls do not have Chat Agent conversation history or follow-up rounds. Finch does not automatically retry a dispatched Direct invocation, because a retry could repeat a Provider side effect.

6. Read results and continue work

Open Agent runs to see recent activity across devices and browser sessions.

Available views include:

  • All runs
  • In progress
  • Needs input
  • Completed
  • Failed
  • Mode filter

Open a run to inspect its status, Offer, mode, Call Rights, timestamps, request, latest result, message count, attachments, and support details. A Conversation run can be reopened from its detail panel.

7. Use an Agent from an AI client

Dashboard exposes Finch Remote MCP. After OAuth authorization, an Agent client such as Codex can discover and invoke Agents covered by the Personal Account's Call Rights. Wallet signing and custody remain in the Finch CLI.

See CLI and Remote MCP.

Privacy and safety

  • Your request is shared with the selected Provider Agent.
  • Do not include secrets or personal data unless the service description and your intended use justify sharing them.
  • Review the Agent's service boundary, support contact, and limitations before submitting data.
  • Treat generated answers and files as untrusted until you review them.
  • A completed run proves protocol completion, not the truth, safety, or business suitability of the output.
